WE HAVE HISTORY
Ken Stabler began by founding Ken Stabler Trucking in July 1989. It began with one truck and a dream of being a self-employed owner operator. In the beginning, they hauled gravel and asphalt in the highway construction industry then transitioned into hay and ag commodities for the winters. Ken Stabler Trucking progressed to over the road trucking in the late ‘90s and slowly grew by the addition of more trucks as the demand required. In 2003, Ken and Alane added A&K Transport, a brokerage company, to broker out excess loads of cargo and freight.
In 2008, when the economy began its downturn, Ken felt it essential to focus on Stabler Steel & Recycling, a business he and Alane had started a few years before. Ken Stabler Trucking began servicing the Bakken Oil field of Western North Dakota and Eastern Montana as well as hauling scrap metal for Stabler Steel & Recycling.
With the Bakken booming and the abundance of oversized loads, Alane began Stabler Pilot Service in 2011 primarily focusing in Montana, North and South Dakota, and Wyoming.
Ken and Alane are members of Motor Carriers of Montana, where Ken has been serving on the Board of Directors for many years, including the President in 2012. In addition to Motor Carriers of Montana, Ken and Alane are also active in the American Trucking Association and Transportation Intermediaries Association.
we have experience on all sides of transportation
A&K Transport has the ability of understanding all of the needs in the industry and your business. Whether you are a shipper in need of transportation, an owner-operator seeking a company to lease on to, or a trucking company that is pursuing a back haul from time to time, with our first hand knowledge and unique understanding of the transportation industry we can assist you in all situations.
I have been using A&K Transport for a couple years now, and they have gave me great prices along with great service. Dave and Rick are both very informative on any truck activity and always get trucks in a reasonable time frame. I will continue to use A&K Transport for those reasons. Thanks for everything!
Neil – Baker Metal & Recycling
I’ve been involved in the trucking business all my life. I knew from a very young age that it was what I was made for. I started driving with my Dad when I was in my teens and as soon I got my chauffeurs license at 18, I got my first truck driving job working for Dale Fellman Feeds in Miles City, MT where I worked for two years. I went to work for Jerry Singleton Trucking and Ray Jerrel Inc. before I went into business for myself in 1989 and have been self-employed since.
I served as Youth Director at Grace Bible Church under Pastor Jerry Coon in Miles City, MT from 1991 through 1999, and been a board member of GBC for many years. I served two terms on the Miles City Unified School Board, coached youth basketball for several years, and have been a board member of the Motor Carriers of Montana for many years, serving as President in 2013. I think it is important to be involved in advocacy groups that represent interests that one has. The world is run by those who show up!
“Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.” John Wooden
After graduating with a Business Finance degree, I spent a few years working for an investment company in Miles City before joining our family business in 2017. I have enjoyed this new venture and getting the opportunity to work side by side with both my parents. An added advantage is the ability it allows me to spend time with my growing family.
I married my husband, Brennan, in 2014 and we have spent every day since enjoying our marital bliss. We have a daughter, Delia, a son, Patton, and a baby expected in March of 2020. We live out of town where my husband ranches, both managing our expanding cow operation and helping all the neighbors. We are blessed to be able to raise our children in the beautiful badlands of Montana.
When I am not juggling our work-life balance, I love to sing. I am involved in the Worship Team and choir at Grace Bible church and, when my schedule permits, I enjoy participating in community singing opportunities such as the community choir. However, some of my favorite singing “gigs” are those in which I am able to perform with my grandma, Hazel Stabler, who is the epitome of a classic country music pianist.
I have been happily married to my wife, Joy, a family nurse practitioner, for over 37 years. I have two sons that are married to nurses. I have three grandchildren – one girl and two boys. They are the best part of life for my wife and myself. God has been good to our families.
I went to work for A&K Transport in November of 2018 in the Sales department. There is a lot to learn in the transportation industry, but I enjoy learning and as Ken states “You’ve just got to put the puzzle together”.
Our family enjoys snowmobiling at the Big Horn National Forest in Wyoming which, interestingly is at an elevation of 8,350 at the lodge. We began snowmobiling in 1986 and now take an annual trip every February with sometimes up 22 family and friends.
Outside of work and snowmobiling, I stay active in the community by serving as a council person for the City of Miles City. This has also been a learning experience for me but also deeply gratifying. My wife and I are involved in Grace Bible Church here in Miles City serving as organizer for the church greeting program.
Please send us work – we want to have a business relationship.
Sales Logistics Coordinator
Growing up in Eastern Montana, agriculture and family business has played an integral part of my upbringing. I grew up working on my family ranch north of Miles City with a passion for farming. After graduating from Dickinson State University in the spring of 2013, I moved back to Miles City and worked in the agriculture industry for many years on the retail side. In 2015, my roots brought me back to farming on the side with my wife, Rachel, south of Miles City which keeps us very busy each summer.
I am very fortunate for the opportunity to work hand in hand with family day in and day out while raising our two daughters, Griffyn and Decklyn, and our son, Gresh. In my spare time, I enjoy watching all sports, especially the San Fransico 49ers.
Ever since I can remember my dad, Ken, always told me that I was going to be his personal assistant. Growing up I thought that would be the worst job! Who would want to spend everyday with their dad? When I graduated college in 2013 with a degree in business administration, I moved back to Miles City to do just that. I joined him in the steel and recycling business as well as the trucking industry until 2014 when I got married to my husband, Derick where I then went a helped at his family business. In 2015 we welcomed our first daughter, Griffyn, our second daughter Decklyn in 2018 and our son Gresh in December of 2019!
We are very blessed to be able to work back in the transportation as it offers huge potential and growth as well as the opportunity to work within our family business.
I was born and raised in Miles City, MT. After graduating high school in 2018 I then decided to further my education at the University of Montana Western. I started to pursue an Education Degree and the summer of 2020 I actually
decided to change direction and started in the transportation industry. I couldn’t be more happy with the decision I had made because there is so much more to the trucking world that not everybody knows about. I am excited to see where this new adventure takes me.
Outside of work I enjoy being outside and spending my time with my friends and family. I also have three brothers who are very active in the local sports here in Miles City. It is so much fun being able to be back at home.
